Jovial Tomato Ketchup

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ jars (780 g) Jovial Organic Diced Tomatoes
  • 1 medium sweet onion chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 2 tbsp. (23 g) Jovial Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp. (20 g) tomato paste
  • ½ cup (126 g) apple cider vinegar
  • 2 ounces (57 g) honey
  • ½ tsp. (2 g) sea salt

Making your own ketchup at home is easy and it lets you control what goes in it. Just grab a jar of Jovial diced tomatoes and a few other ingredients and you are ready to go!

Instructions

  1. In a heavy bottom 2 quart sauce pot, set on medium heat, add the olive oil.
  2. Add the onions and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally 8 minutes or until the onion mixture has softened and is translucent in color.
  3. Add the tomato paste, cider vinegar, diced tomatoes, honey and salt and bring to a simmer.
  4. Simmer 1 hour; stirring occasionally (ketchup should be thick).
  5. Using a stick/emersion blender or food processor puree ketchup until it is very smooth.
  6. Store covered in refrigerator overnight to develop and combine flavors.

Ketchup can be held in refrigerator up to 3 weeks.
