The Story of Jovial and Brown Rice

Several years ago, Carla approached a Tuscan pasta factory with the idea of making an organic gluten free pasta with only one ingredient, organic brown rice flour. She also asked that the pasta be pressed with traditional bronze dies, not with the Teflon dies used by today’s large pasta manufacturers. Additionally, the pasta had to be dried at low temperatures. No small feat for gluten free, but she had a hunch that jovial consumers would taste & appreciate the difference.

    Versatile Egg Noodles

    There are so many ways to use these delicious noodles. My favorites include:

    Sauteed with spinach, oil and garlic

    Baked into dessert kugels with raisins, cinnamon and brown sugar.

    Served under goulash or chicken livers with mushrooms.

    Tip: gluten-free pasta is more delicate than regular pasta, so rather than reheating them in the microwave, stir them gently in a pan with a little oil or butter.

    In terms of the initial boiling, I don't like under-cooked pasta (too chewy), but I don't like over-cooked pasta (too soft) either. Watch the noodles as they boil and sample before pouring the noodles into your colander. If perfect, don't let them sit in the hot water.

    This was really good egg tagliatelle!

    Really enjoyed this brown rice pasta egg tagliatelle! Just perfect with melted butter and salt. What I appreciate about Jovial Foods, is that they continue to offer a variety of good products. Excellent marketing and quality ingredients.

    Little love nests

    These are the best! Thick ribbons of delicious pasta really fill you up and I feel like I can add three little bundles for a good serving. No leftovers(unless I want them.

    Great Substitute for Egg Noodles

    I've missed egg noodles, but this is a great substitute and will give you the same enjoyment as traditional egg noddles.
