- Melt the butter and olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion, salt, and pepper and cook on low until tender, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Add orzo to the pan and stir to coat the pasta with the onion mixture. Add broth and increase the heat to high until the mixture comes to a boil.
- Once boiling, lower the heat and simmer, uncovered, until the orzo is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed, about 20 minutes.
- Remove from heat. Fold in the cheese, basil, chives, and parsley. Taste and adjust the seasoning as desired.
