Carla on NPR's How I Built This with Guy Raz

In early 2021, Guy Raz of NPR’s How I Built This, a podcast examining the stories of "the innovators, entrepreneurs and idealists" behind some of the world's best-known companies, reached out to Carla for an interview. He had originally discovered a bit of her story on the back of a jovial cassava pasta box in the supermarket in 2020. Carla had always been a big fan of Guy's and was elated to have the opportunity to speak with him.

Carla and Guy discussed the beginnings of bionaturae and jovial, as well as Carla's upbringing, the inspirations behind the brands and the struggles she and Rodolfo overcame. After the interview, Carla sent Guy products from Italy, as well as some of her einkorn sourdough starter, which inspired him to try baking an einkorn boule, as you can see in the photo he shared below. Like all of us, Guy was stunned to hear about Carla's passing. He learned the news just before the interview was set to air, and decided to share it as a celebration of her remarkable life and career.
