Brown Rice Pasta Cooking Times
About eight years ago, Carla approached a Tuscan pasta factory with the idea of making a new organic gluten-free pasta with only one ingredient, organic brown rice flour. She also asked that the pasta be pressed with traditional bronze dies, not with the Teflon dies used by today's large pasta manufacturers. Additionally, the pasta had to be dried at low temperatures. No small feat for gluten-free, but she had a hunch that the group of consumers who she wanted to attract to her new brand would taste the difference.
Jovial's organic brown rice pasta is steadily growing in popularity, and with increased demand comes the need for updated equipment. During the past few years of growth, our pasta factory has installed a few new production lines in their dedicated gluten-free facility. We believe the taste and texture of our pasta is even better than when we first started. However, one change came along with this new equipment that we did not anticipate; some cooking times are longer now.
Here is a handy brown rice pasta cook time chart you can save or print out. The times on this chart will help you not to overcook your pasta, but make sure to taste your pasta for doneness before serving.

The recipe has not changed; so sorry to hear this happened. Questions about your method (no boil?) and if you used jovial tomatoes or a different type; we are happy to mail you coupons if you email us at info@jovialfoods.com

Hi! Did your lasagna noodle recipe change? I used to only use your noodles and then moved and couldn’t find them for years. I found them again and was so excited but the noodles turned to paste and were basically inedible! We had to throw dinner out. I’m not here to complain….just to let you know something is not as it was!

Actually, the cook time IS printed on the back of the box; far right highlighted in a red box it says: cook time 11 minutes.

Thank you for this, published in 2017. But it is now 2021, and you spaghetti package still does not specify a cooking time.
People need to have some sort of idea how long the pasta takes to cook, so they don’t have to stand by the stove with steam in their face, pulling out strands of pasta to test for doneness.June Fletcher on

So sorry to hear that you are disappointed. There have been no changes to the recipe but there can be slight variations in the crop. Please email with the best by dates so that we might log this with quality control at info@jovialfoods.com

Hi.
We have loved your Jovial brown rice past for a few years now, but last month we bought two boxes and the color was darker, had an odd smell and taste, almost metallic. Did something change in your process?
Just very disappointed in the change.
