Einkorn Kneading Tool
Our founder, Carla together with her relative Maurizio, created a simple tool that she uses at home to knead most types of einkorn bread without touching the dough. Jovial’s Einkorn Kneading Tool is simple to use- just add the ingredients to a large bowl, and mix the dough as if you were using a large wooden spoon until the water absorbs the flour. Since the hand dough kneader is made from polished stainless steel and has a hole in the middle, it won’t drag in the dough. You can also use the tool to scrape the sides of the bowl. If the dough is stiff, use the tool as much as possible, then cover the bowl and let the dough rest for 15 minutes. During the resting period, the flour will absorb the liquid and become less sticky so you can finish kneading by hand.

Carla has been working with einkorn for almost a decade and bakes regularly for her family. She noticed that kneading the dough by hand yielded the best bread, but she grew tired of sticky hands. She tried other tools like whisks, but they just weren’t strong enough for the einkorn dough. One day, at a family birthday celebration in Italy, she got talking to a relative who manufactures stainless steel tools, and from there, the jovial einkorn kneading tool was born.
